Peshawar, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has intensified its tax enforcement efforts in Peshawar as part of the third phase of its ongoing campaign, under the directives of Advisor to the Finance Department Muzammil Aslam and KPRA Director General Fouzia Iqbal.
The latest phase includes surprise inspections of businesses, thorough examination of their records, and swift penalties for breaches of tax laws. As part of this initiative, a KPRA team led by Additional Collector Central Abdul Raziq Khan and Assistant Collector Shahnawaz Hassan Khan conducted an unannounced visit to a well-known restaurant in Namak Mandi on Saturday night.
During the inspection, the restaurant was found to be in violation of tax regulations by failing to issue sales tax invoices. A penalty notice amounting to Rs. 100,000 was issued to the establishment on the spot.
Speaking on the matter, Additional Collector Abdul Raziq Khan emphasized the importance of tax compliance, stating that the KPRA will continue conducting surprise inspections to ensure adherence to the KPRA Sales Tax on Services Act, 2022. “There will be no leniency in safeguarding the province’s revenue,” he asserted, urging businesses, particularly restaurants, to issue proper sales tax invoices to avoid penalties.
The KPRA has also called on the public to report any incidents of tax fraud, concealment, or evasion through its official WhatsApp number, 0333-1421423. The authority has assured prompt action on complaints and will provide updates on the outcomes of reported cases.
This enforcement drive highlights KPRA’s commitment to strengthening the province’s revenue system and ensuring fair tax practices across all business sectors.
