NADRA Speeds Up Data Sharing to Boost Taxpayer Base

Islamabad, Pakistan: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has accelerated data-sharing with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), which has contributed to a significant increase in the number of tax filers.

The FBR aims to raise the tax-to-GDP ratio to 13.7% under the IMF program. To achieve this goal, the FBR is working to improve data sharing with provincial revenue authorities and align agricultural income taxes with existing structures.

A high-level technical committee has been formed to develop a plan for registering new taxpayers. The committee is led by NADRA Chairman Lt. Gen. Muhammad Munir and includes senior officials from NADRA and the FBR. Pro Pakistani

The FBR is also working to streamline data-sharing processes with the State Bank of Pakistan and commercial banks. These efforts are expected to enhance the efficiency of the tax system and increase revenue collection.
