The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced an extension in the deadline for submitting Sales Tax and Federal Excise Returns for the tax period of February 2025.
According to an official notification (C.No. 9(11)ST-LP&E/Misc/2016/38813-R) issued on March 24, 2025, the original due date of March 18, 2025, has been extended to March 27, 2025.
This decision, made in exercise of the powers conferred under section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005, aims to provide taxpayers with additional time to file their returns.
The FBR has also directed to upload this notification on the FBR’s web portal for public awareness.
This extension will likely be welcomed by taxpayers who may have faced difficulties in preparing and submitting their returns within the initial timeframe. Taxpayers are advised to take advantage of this extension and ensure timely filing by the new deadline of March 27, 2025.
