FBR Cultivates Tax Awareness Among University Students

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), through its dedicated Taxpayers Services Wing, recently conducted an insightful tax awareness session at the Capital University of Science & Technology (CUST). The initiative aimed to educate young minds on Pakistan’s tax framework and foster a culture of compliance from an early age.

Engaged Audience at CUST

The session saw active participation from CUST’s leadership, including President Hammad Qureshi, Vice President Ammad Azhar, and General Secretary Ammara Khan, alongside a significant number of university students. This engagement underscores the growing recognition of the importance of tax literacy among the younger generation.

The FBR team present at the session included Second Secretary (Tax Education) Zafar Iqbal Khan, Inspector Salman Khaliq, Coordinator Zia Farooqi, and staff member Manzoor Hussain, who facilitated the interactive discussion.

Comprehensive Overview of Tax System

During the session, Second Secretary Zafar Iqbal Khan delivered a comprehensive presentation, demystifying Pakistan’s tax structure and elaborating on the overall functions of the FBR. He specifically highlighted the various measures being implemented by the FBR to enhance the transparency and efficiency of the country’s revenue collection system.

A key message conveyed by Mr. Khan to the students was the vital role they can play as “Tax Ambassadors.” He urged them to actively spread awareness about tax responsibilities within their communities, emphasizing their potential to influence broader tax compliance.

Interactive Q&A and Future Ambassadors

The session concluded with a detailed and engaging question-and-answer segment, allowing participants to directly address their queries to the FBR representative and gain further clarity on tax-related matters. As a gesture of appreciation and to encourage their participation, souvenirs were also distributed among the attending students.

This awareness session at CUST is a testament to the FBR’s ongoing commitment to building a stronger understanding of the tax system among Pakistan’s youth. Such initiatives are crucial in promoting a more robust culture of tax compliance, which is essential for the nation’s economic development.
