The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is aggressively leveraging the latest digital technologies to establish a fully automatic, transparent, and simplified tax regime across Pakistan. This commitment was articulated by Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue Irshad Hussain during a training session held at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI).
The training session, organized by the FBR in collaboration with Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL), aimed to educate FCCI members on the intricacies of the E-filing system. “Digital technology is being utilised to bring a qualitative improvement in the overall tax system,” stated Chief Commissioner Irshad Hussain. He emphasized that the session would equip FCCI members to generate their own invoices and manage online payments for sales tax and income tax directly from their offices.
Digitalization for Enhanced Transparency and Tax Net Expansion
Irshad Hussain affirmed that tax payments would become fully digitalized, facilitated by efficient software developed by PRAL specifically for the business community. He highlighted the system’s crucial role in making tax collection transparent and expanding the tax net across the country. The FBR is also making concerted efforts to address and dispel any apprehensions taxpayers might have regarding the new e-filing system.
Qaisar Shams Gucha, Senior Vice President FCCI, welcomed the initiative, noting the business community’s keen interest in the system due to its convenience. He expressed satisfaction with the close liaison between FCCI and RTO, anticipating further cooperation.
Officers from PRAL provided a detailed presentation on the E-filing system, demonstrating how this electronic intervention would enable businesses to efficiently generate invoices, file returns, and manage other technical tax-related issues. This ongoing push for digitalization aligns with the government’s broader vision of a more formalized and accessible tax ecosystem.
