FBR Declares 30th and 31st August as Normal Working Days for Tax Collection; Refund Filing Application for TY 2025 Now Open

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued an important notification confirming that 30th and 31st August 2025 will be observed as normal working days across all Inland Revenue field offices. The directive applies to Large Taxpayers’ Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayers’ Office (MTO), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) to ensure smooth tax collection before the close of the month.

Refund Filing Application for TY 2025 Launched

In a major facilitation, the FBR has opened the refund filing application for Tax Year 2025. This means taxpayers can now file their refund claims along with income tax return submission, making the process faster and more efficient.

Real-Time ATL Update – A Big Relief for Taxpayers

Another significant advantage introduced this year is that taxpayers’ names are being updated on the Active Taxpayers List (ATL) in real-time based on their Tax Year 2025 return filings. Unlike previous years, there is no additional fine or surcharge for ATL updation, giving taxpayers an immediate benefit upon filing.

Key Highlights for Taxpayers:

  • 30th & 31st August 2025 declared normal working days for all FBR tax offices.
  • Refund filing application for TY 2025 now active – refunds can be claimed with return submission.
  • ATL updated in real-time on TY 2025 basis, with no extra charges.

Tax experts believe these measures will enhance compliance, encourage timely return filing, and provide confidence to taxpayers by ensuring both refunds and ATL status are streamlined.

The FBR has urged taxpayers to take advantage of these facilities and file their income tax returns before the due date to avoid last-minute issues.
