RTO-II Karachi Collects Record Rs107 Billion in Salary Tax for FY 2024

The Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) Karachi has recorded a major milestone in revenue collection, generating Rs107 billion in salary tax during Tax Year 2024, according to the latest data released by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The achievement marks a 43% increase compared with the previous year, when collections stood at Rs75 billion. Officials attributed this surge to stronger enforcement, improved compliance, and a broader taxable salary base.

Sector-Wise Contributions

  • Private Sector Employees: The largest share came from private sector salaries, contributing Rs91.47 billion, up from Rs65.65 billion in 2023.
  • Federal Government Employees: Payments nearly doubled to Rs9.85 billion, compared with Rs5.52 billion in the previous year.
  • Provincial Government Employees: Collections rose to Rs5.78 billion, against Rs3.88 billion in 2023.

RTO-II Karachi has jurisdiction over salaried taxpayers across both public and private sectors, making it one of the country’s most significant revenue-generating tax offices. The FBR hailed the strong performance as evidence of Karachi’s critical role in expanding Pakistan’s tax base and advancing the government’s documentation drive.
