The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has launched one of its largest enforcement drives across the province to curb tax evasion and strengthen compliance among commercial entities. Officials found that numerous housing societies, builders, and farmhouses in multiple districts were operating without proper tax registration, while major hotels, food chains, and high-traffic restaurants were caught manipulating sales data — exposing long-standing gaps in documentation of taxable services.
These developments were shared in a high-level meeting chaired by PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, who directed the Commissioner Lahore Division to immediately issue notices for registration and tax payment to all identified defaulters. Vigilance teams have already compiled billing and audit records, and enforcement actions will follow in the coming days. In Lahore alone, more than 100 farmhouses were flagged as non-compliant, reflecting extensive evasion in the leisure and event sector.
The chairman also ordered intensified scrutiny of the financial and operational records of hotels, marquees, marriage halls, and event management companies. Strict action will follow warning notices, particularly against businesses involved in misreporting, under-invoicing, or issuing fake invoices. Additional Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to hold weekly reviews of revenue performance to ensure monthly targets are met and compliance continues to improve across Punjab.
