The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has impounded records from 11 business outlets during a province-wide operation targeting tax defaulters in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Taxila, and Bahawalpur.
Enforcement teams inspected 58 food outlets and marquees, uncovering sales tampering, violations of the mandatory Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (E-IMS), and unreported tax collections. Records were seized from 11 outlets, including a well-known fast-food chain, while four major hotels faced document confiscations due to serious irregularities.
In Lahore’s Johar Town, officials detected sales record manipulation at two fast-food chain branches and a popular restaurant. Notices were issued to 40 food outlets and seven marquees for failing to implement E-IMS.
The PRA emphasized that collecting sales tax without depositing it into government accounts is a criminal offense. Consumers are urged to verify electronic invoices via the PRA Sahulat app to promote transparency and compliance.
