LAHORE: Chairman Sindh Revenue Board (SRB), Dr. Wasif Memon, paid an official visit to the headquarters of the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), where he held an extensive meeting with Chairman PRA, Muazzam Iqbal Sipra. During the visit, Dr. Memon was given a comprehensive briefing on PRA’s organizational structure, operational framework, ongoing reform initiatives, and the performance of its enforcement wings.
According to an official statement issued by the PRA, the two sides engaged in detailed discussions on the implementation and administration of sales tax on services, institutional restructuring, and strategies to further strengthen inter-provincial coordination in tax matters. The dialogue also covered best practices being adopted by both authorities to improve compliance and enhance operational efficiency.
Both chairmen underscored the importance of effective data sharing, capacity building, and the use of modern technology to boost revenue collection. Proposals aimed at broadening the tax base through stronger inter-provincial collaboration were reviewed, with a consensus on adopting coordinated approaches to address sectors that remain under-taxed.
Dr. Wasif Memon emphasized that joint initiatives between SRB and PRA would be pursued to facilitate the business community, reduce compliance hurdles, and promote a positive and trust-based tax culture across provinces. He lauded the PRA leadership for successfully implementing reforms and achieving record revenue collection during the ongoing fiscal year.
Chairman PRA Muazzam Iqbal Sipra reaffirmed PRA’s commitment to mutual cooperation, particularly in legislative and policy matters concerning service sectors that have historically remained outside the tax net. He expressed confidence that sustained collaboration between provincial revenue authorities would contribute significantly to strengthening Pakistan’s overall fiscal framework.
