FBR Chairman Commends Budget Team for Successful Preparation of Federal Budget

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial and Finance Secretary Imdad Ullah Bosal hosted a special luncheon to recognize and appreciate the officials who played a key role in preparing the Federal Budget 2026-27.

The event brought together senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and the FBR, highlighting the collaborative efforts behind the formulation of Pakistan’s fiscal framework for the upcoming financial year.

Speaking at the ceremony, FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial praised the budget team for its dedication, professionalism, and hard work throughout the budget-making process. He said the Federal Budget 2026-27 was designed to support economic growth, provide relief to citizens, and advance the government’s ongoing economic reform agenda.

Langrial noted that the budget was developed through extensive consultations with multiple stakeholders, including the Tax Policy Office (TPO), federal ministries, revenue authorities, parliamentary standing committees, and provincial governments.

He emphasized that despite the complexity of the exercise and the large number of consultations involved, the budget was finalized smoothly with all major policy initiatives successfully incorporated into the final document. He also appreciated the strong coordination between the FBR and the Tax Policy Office, describing it as instrumental to the successful completion of the budget process.

Finance Secretary Imdad Ullah Bosal congratulated the budget team and described the Federal Budget 2026-27 as a growth-oriented and people-centric fiscal plan. He stressed that effective budget preparation requires close institutional coordination and a shared commitment to achieving national economic objectives.

During the ceremony, several senior officers received recognition for their contributions to the budget process.

Member Strategic Transformation Dr. Hamid Ateeq Sarwar was acknowledged for overseeing the overall budget exercise and representing the government’s position during discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as well as engagements with Senate and National Assembly committees.

Director General Tax Policy Office Dr. Najeeb Memon was commended for advocating taxpayer relief measures while ensuring compliance with Pakistan’s IMF commitments and supporting policies aimed at economic growth and public welfare.

Member Customs Policy Ashad Jawad received appreciation for leading negotiations on customs-related proposals, while Member Administration Muhammad Iqbal Khan was recognized for managing logistical arrangements, including the printing and distribution of budget documents.

TPO Directors Ajaz Hussain and Chaudhry Munir Ahmed were praised for their professionalism and commitment throughout the budget formulation process. Project Director Tax Data Unit Dr. Najeebullah was also acknowledged for providing technical expertise and analytical support during the budget exercise.

Special Assistant to Member Strategic Transformation Dr. Zehra Farooq received recognition for her research, policy analysis, and technical contributions, while Special Assistant to Member Policy Ali Abbas was appreciated for drafting legislative proposals and coordinating departmental inputs for the Finance Bill 2026-27.

Officials stated that the luncheon reflected the government’s appreciation for the expertise, teamwork, and dedication demonstrated by the budget team in preparing the Federal Budget 2026-27, a key policy document that will guide Pakistan’s economic management and fiscal strategy in the coming year.
