Old FBR e-Payment Portal to be Discontinued by December 31

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced that its existing e-payment portal will be discontinued on December 31, 2024. After this date, taxpayers will only be able to create and process payments using the updated e-Payments 2.0 system, which has been designed to meet the evolving needs of taxpayers and comply with updated regulations.

Enhanced Features of e-Payments 2.0

The new portal, integrated into the FBR’s modernized IRIS 2.0 platform, introduces several user-friendly features and functionalities aimed at streamlining the payment process. Key updates include:

  • Improved User Interface: The redesigned portal provides a more intuitive and efficient navigation experience for taxpayers.
  • Compliance with Changing Laws: The system is updated to reflect the latest legal and regulatory changes, ensuring taxpayers can fulfill their obligations seamlessly.
  • Enhanced Security: With advanced encryption and secure payment channels, the new system ensures the safety of financial transactions.
  • Integration with Banking Networks: The updated portal supports wider integration with banks, enabling quicker and more convenient payments.
  • Support for Tier-1 Retailers and POS Integration: Tailored features have been added to facilitate Tier-1 retailers and Point-of-Sale (POS) integration, aligning with FBR’s digital tax collection initiatives.

Transition for Taxpayers

FBR has urged all taxpayers to familiarize themselves with the new system before the December 31 deadline. Taxpayers are advised to complete any pending transactions on the existing platform and start transitioning to e-Payments 2.0 for a smoother experience.

To assist taxpayers during this transition, FBR has provided support materials and tutorials, available on its official website.

Significance of the Move

The introduction of e-Payments 2.0 is part of FBR’s broader digitization strategy, aiming to increase transparency, enhance taxpayer compliance, and improve operational efficiency. This transition will further facilitate FBR’s efforts to modernize Pakistan’s tax collection infrastructure and meet global standards.

Taxpayers can log in to the e-Payments 2.0 portal using their credentials and begin exploring the enhanced features. The FBR has reiterated its commitment to providing continuous support to taxpayers during this transition.
