RTO Hyderabad Chief Consults Tax Bar on Ethics and Transparency


The Chief Commissioner of Regional Tax Office (RTO) Hyderabad, Qazi Hifz-ur-Rehman, held a consultative meeting with the Tax Bar Association Hyderabad (TBAH) today. The session was conducted with the objective of strengthening ethical standards and enhancing transparency within the tax department’s operations.

The meeting saw the participation of senior RTO officers, including Shamim Murtaza, Naib Ali Pathan, and Altaf Hussain Memon. Representing the TBAH were President Ali Sajjad Jafri and other office bearers of the association.

Focus on Integrity and Zero Tolerance

During the meeting, Chief Commissioner Qazi Hifz-ur-Rehman invited suggestions from the TBAH representatives on measures to ensure high levels of professionalism and integrity among Inland Revenue Service (IRS) officers. He firmly reiterated the department’s policy of zero tolerance for any instance of harassment or undue demands made by officials. TBAH representatives informed the Chief Commissioner that they had not received any complaints on these matters to date but pledged to promptly communicate any future concerns that may arise.

Awareness Campaign Announced

In a move to further promote accountability and public awareness, an awareness campaign was announced. This initiative will include the deployment of panaflexes, standees, and pamphlets throughout the office premises. These materials will clearly display the channels available for reporting any issues, including the contact details of the Chief Commissioner himself, ensuring accessibility for taxpayers and professionals.

The RTO Hyderabad reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to ethical governance, building and maintaining public trust, and ensuring a transparent and accountable tax administration for all stakeholders.
