Govt Postpones Key Meeting Ahead of Budget 2026-27

The federal government has postponed the meeting of the Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC), a key session for finalizing Pakistan’s development budget for fiscal year 2026-27.

According to sources, the APCC meeting was initially scheduled for May 20, 2026, but has now been delayed for undisclosed reasons. A revised date for the meeting is expected to be announced later by the Planning Commission.

The APCC plays a crucial role in the federal budget-making process as it reviews and approves the proposed Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) before the announcement of the annual federal budget.

The committee typically evaluates development priorities, sectoral allocations, and funding requirements for federal ministries and national infrastructure projects. The approved PSDP forms a major component of Pakistan’s annual development expenditure.

The delay in the APCC meeting comes at a time when the government is finalizing fiscal proposals and budgetary targets for the upcoming financial year amid ongoing economic challenges and revenue reforms.

The Planning Commission had earlier issued the schedule for the meeting to complete budget preparations ahead of the federal budget presentation next month.
