Aurangzeb Hails FBR for Record December Revenue Collection

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has praised the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for achieving the highest-ever revenue collection in December, calling it a strong validation of the government’s fiscal reform agenda.

Addressing FBR field formations via video link on Friday, the minister said the FBR collected Rs1.427 trillion in December 2025 against a target of Rs1.446 trillion, showing a shortfall of Rs19 billion but a 7.5% growth compared to Rs1.327 trillion collected in December 2024.

Aurangzeb credited the government’s focus on digitisation, cashless transactions, and strengthened enforcement for the improved performance. He emphasized that sustained compliance, effective enforcement, and institutional accountability are key to easing the tax burden on the formal sector.

The minister urged FBR formations to intensify efforts to expand and deepen the tax net, ensuring continued revenue growth.
