FBR Holds Awareness Seminar at FPCCI Karachi on Digital Reforms

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), in collaboration with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), organized an awareness seminar at Federation House, Karachi, to brief stakeholders on transparency, accountability and digital transformation initiatives being implemented within the tax system.

The seminar was held on the instructions of Chairman FBR, Mr. Rashid Mahmood Langrial, and under the supervision of Member Taxpayers’ Services Wing (TPS), Madam Tehmina Aamer. The event aimed to highlight FBR’s ongoing transformation plan, structural reforms and technology-driven measures designed to broaden the tax base, enhance institutional transparency and strengthen internal accountability mechanisms.

Secretary Taxpayers’ Services Wing, Mr. Abdul Hameed Abro, accompanied by Second Secretary (Media), Mr. Tariq Asad, delivered a detailed presentation outlining FBR’s reform agenda. He briefed participants on key initiatives including Point of Sale (POS) Integration, Track & Trace System, Digital Invoicing, Faceless Customs System, Cargo Tracking System, Direct Port Delivery System, Reward & Rating System, and the use of Video Analytics for production monitoring.

The Secretary informed the audience that Video Analytics has already been successfully implemented in the sugar and cement sectors and is currently being rolled out in the textile sector. These technology-based interventions aim to reduce human discretion, enable real-time monitoring, and promote transparency and accountability across operational processes.

It was emphasized that the adoption of automation, artificial intelligence and faceless systems has significantly improved taxpayer confidence by ensuring uniform application of tax laws, reducing direct interaction, and enhancing governance standards. These reforms have strengthened FBR’s image as a transparent, accountable and taxpayer-friendly institution.

The seminar was attended by Senior Vice President FPCCI Mr. Saqib Fayyaz, Vice Presidents Mr. Amaan Paracha and Mr. Asif Sakhi, and Advisor on Tax Matters Mr. Danish Saleem. Representatives from various chambers of commerce and trade associations also participated via Zoom. Participants showed keen interest and actively engaged during the question-and-answer session.

The event concluded with the presentation of souvenirs by FBR officers, reaffirming the authority’s commitment to sustained stakeholder engagement and the promotion of transparency and accountability in revenue administration.
