In line with its strategy to curb smuggling and support legitimate trade, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) sent Syed Shakeel Shah, Member (Customs Operations), Islamabad, accompanied by Mr. Basit Maqsood Abbasi, Chief Collector Customs Enforcement, Islamabad, on an official visit to Customs House Quetta on 8–9 January 2026.
They were welcomed by senior Balochistan Customs officials, including Mr. Masood Ahmed, Chief Collector (Appraisement), and Dr. Karam Elahi, Collector (Enforcement), Quetta, along with other key officers.
Briefings covered trade dynamics, anti-smuggling drives, intelligence-based operations, and revenue recoveries. The delegation also met the Quetta Chamber of Commerce & Industry to address trade concerns, with on-the-spot directions issued for quick resolution.
The FBR team inaugurated two new Customs Enforcement sections, planted saplings to promote environmental responsibility, and held a joint session with law enforcement agencies—including the Frontier Corps, Pakistan Coast Guards, and other senior officials—to boost coordination, border management, and anti-smuggling efforts.
The visit concluded with appreciation for the strong performance of Customs formations in Balochistan, highlighting their role in enforcement and revenue collection.
