FBR Partners with LUMS to Launch Postgraduate Diploma Programme for Officers

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has signed a landmark agreement with the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) to design and deliver a customized Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programme aimed at strengthening the professional capacity of Pakistan’s tax administration.

The signing ceremony took place at FBR Headquarters, Islamabad, under the chairmanship of FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial. Senior FBR officials, Members of the Board, Director Generals of Inland Revenue and Customs Academies, and officers of the Transformation Delivery Unit (TDU) attended the event. LUMS was represented by Provost Dr. Tariq Jadoon and Dean of the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), Dr. Adeel Zafar.

Chairman FBR congratulated both teams on the initiative, emphasizing that the diploma would provide FBR officers with critical skills in modern tax administration, particularly digitalization and data analytics. “This programme will play a pivotal role in building a stronger, more effective tax system for Pakistan,” he said.

Member (Administration/HR) Mohammad Iqbal highlighted that the programme’s curriculum covers advanced accounting, data analytics, digital economy, e-commerce, supply chain management, trade analytics, and international taxation.

Dean SDSB Dr. Adeel Zafar reaffirmed LUMS’ commitment to making the collaboration impactful and sustainable, expressing confidence that the training will yield long-term benefits for Pakistan’s tax administration.

The PGD Programme marks a major milestone in FBR’s broader Transformation Plan, which aims to modernize tax administration through digitalization, enhanced enforcement measures, and organizational capacity building.

The first cohort of 51 probationary FBR officers will begin classes on October 20, 2025, making this the first programme of its kind designed specifically to equip Pakistan’s tax officers with globally relevant expertise for tackling emerging challenges in revenue collection and trade facilitation.
