FBR Preparing Major Tax Relief for Salaried Individuals in Next Budget

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial announced on Friday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed officials to introduce substantial tax relief for the salaried class in the upcoming federal budget.

Speaking at a seminar hosted by the Pakistan Business Council in Islamabad, Langrial confirmed that the government has begun formal work on proposals aimed at easing the tax burden on salary earners in the next fiscal year.

He added that the prime minister has also ordered a reduction in the super tax applied to large corporations, with internal consultations underway to shape the policy. According to Langrial, the government’s broader plan is to gradually reduce — and ultimately abolish — the super tax on major businesses and corporate entities.

The FBR chairman noted that the proposal will also be discussed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as Pakistan seeks approval for a phased reduction and eventual elimination of the super tax to support investment and economic growth.
