The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has successfully resolved a major technical issue in its IRIS portal that had been troubling the salaried class during income tax return filing. Taxpayers were repeatedly facing the error message: “Please enter correct receipt value” — a glitch that could not be fixed despite multiple attempts by tax consultants and even intervention from the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO).
FBR has now removed this condition, paving the way for smoother filing before the official deadline of September 30, 2025. While this is a welcome relief, experts strongly urge taxpayers not to wait until the final days to submit their returns.
In Pakistan, internet slowdowns and system glitches often resurface close to the deadline due to the heavy rush of last-minute filers. Delaying until the final hours can put taxpayers at serious risk of missing the deadline altogether, which could result in penalties and unnecessary stress.
Tax practitioners advise filing early to ensure peace of mind and avoid reliance on a system that is often overloaded during the last week. With the recent bug fixed, salaried individuals now have a clear window to complete their filing smoothly.
The message is simple: Don’t wait. File now.
