Finance Minister Aurangzeb Reviews FBR Digitisation Project

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Wednesday reviewed the digitisation initiatives of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) aimed at modernizing tax administration and improving revenue collection.

The meeting, held at FBR Headquarters, was attended by FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial, senior board officials, and members of the Project Steering Committee for the Tax System Digitization Project. Aurangzeb was briefed on the progress of digitisation and informed that data sharing among key stakeholders is ongoing to compile accurate information for identifying non-filers and tax evaders.

Chairman FBR highlighted the Board’s commitment to maximizing revenue through data automation and software solutions. He urged committee members to propose practical recommendations for implementing integrated systems and modern technology to achieve the agency’s future targets.

The committee discussed establishing a robust data-sharing mechanism to provide real-time information among major stakeholders, helping broaden the tax base and formalize the economy.

The meeting concluded that leveraging advanced technology and automation within FBR can strengthen tax compliance and contribute to sustained economic growth.
