FCC Urged to Ensure Tax Charges Governed by Law in Force on Last Day

In the super tax case, the FCC heard arguments that each “block” of a Special Tax Year should be taxed according to the law in force on its last day. Advocates highlighted that retrospective application of Section 4C of the Income Tax Ordinance could unfairly extend liability and prejudice Special Tax Year holders. Super Tax Case – FCC Informed Arguments Completed by 100 Out of 150 Lawyers

The Federal Constitutional Court has adjourned the hearing of the super tax case until Tuesday after learning that arguments from more than 100 of the 150 lawyers involved have been completed. The court is hearing appeals filed by the Federal Board of Revenue against judgments of various high courts challenging the imposition of super tax under the Income Tax Ordinance.
