ISLAMABAD: The federal government is set to launch a new mobile application next week to help small shop owners register under the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Fixed Tax Scheme, making tax registration and compliance easier for millions of retailers across Pakistan.
According to Finance Ministry sources, the application is currently in its final testing phase and will undergo trial runs this week before its official launch. Retailers will be able to register through the app starting in August 2026, while registered businesses will be required to file their tax returns in September 2026.
To ensure wider accessibility, the FBR mobile app will be available in Urdu, English, Sindhi, and Balochi, allowing retailers from different regions to use the platform with ease.
Under the new initiative, retailers who successfully register under the Fixed Tax Scheme will also receive an FBR Green Plate, which will serve as an official identification for businesses enrolled in the tax system.
Officials revealed that the FBR has already compiled data on more than 3.5 million retailers as part of its nationwide drive to expand the tax net and bring undocumented businesses into the formal economy.
The government has set an ambitious target of Rs. 50 billion in revenue from retailer registrations under the Fixed Tax Scheme during the current fiscal year. Authorities believe the new mobile application will simplify the registration process, improve tax compliance, reduce paperwork, and encourage more small businesses to become tax compliant.
The launch of the app is part of the government’s broader tax reform agenda aimed at increasing documentation of the retail sector, broadening the tax base, and improving revenue collection through digital solutions.
