LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has launched a province-wide crackdown against businesses violating tax laws, imposing fines totaling over Rs 6 million.
A PRA spokesperson said enforcement teams inspected several prominent hotels and restaurant chains in Lahore, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Sahiwal. During these inspections, officials seized customer payment records and levied substantial penalties for non-compliance.
Notices were also issued to multiple establishments for failing to install the Integrated Electronic Monitoring System (IEMS). The spokesperson emphasized that the operation is being conducted transparently and without discrimination against those found manipulating tax records.
The PRA reiterated that maintaining digital records of all sales through the IEMS is mandatory and announced that awareness and facilitation sessions are being organized to help businesses comply with tax regulations.
