PESHAWAR – Pakistan Customs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has foiled multiple smuggling attempts, seizing goods valued at Rs74.4 million, including betel nuts, foreign cigarettes, tyres, cosmetics, and non-duty-paid vehicles, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reported on Sunday.
In the largest haul, the Customs Enforcement Division in D.I. Khan intercepted three trucks carrying 12,200 kg of betel nuts, 4,021 sleeves of foreign cigarettes, and 170 tyres. The seized items, along with the vehicles, are worth Rs54.5 million. Non-duty-paid cosmetics—creams, lotions, shampoos, and petroleum jelly—were also confiscated from passenger vehicles, valued at Rs2.4 million.
Separately, the Peshawar Division impounded two non-duty-paid vehicles, a Toyota Vitz and Toyota Aqua, worth approximately Rs8 million. In Nowshera, the Anti-Smuggling Directorate seized a JAC pickup carrying 2,000 sleeves of smuggled cigarettes, valued at Rs9.5 million.
The FBR stated that these coordinated operations underscore Pakistan Customs’ ongoing commitment to curb smuggling and safeguard the national economy.
