FAISALABAD: Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, RTO Faisalabad, Dr. Shah Muhammad Khan, emphasized that taxes are the lifeline of any nation and that most issues can be resolved through cooperation between taxpayers and tax authorities.
Speaking at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), he said the FBR is committed to protecting the rights of the business community, just as taxpayers must respect the rights and responsibilities of the FBR. He added that he has already taken up the matter of delayed registrations with the relevant FBR wing to speed up the process.
Dr. Khan noted that he is well aware of the concerns raised by FCCI Senior Vice President Naveed Akram Sheikh, and steps are underway to address them. On refunds, he explained that 99% of cases are processed through the FASTER system, while only a few remain manual. He also highlighted that major corporate taxpayers have shifted to LTOs in Multan and Lahore, where revenue is deposited, though adjustments continue in Faisalabad.
He assured the business community that audit-related and other operational issues will be resolved soon.
Earlier, Naveed Akram Sheikh welcomed the Chief Commissioner and proposed forming a joint desk of FCCI and RTO representatives to streamline problem-solving. He detailed challenges related to delayed registrations, sales tax refunds, exemption certificates, and an excessive number of tax notices. He suggested running awareness sessions on the integration process, noting that Sections 38B and 40B were creating unrest and eroding trust.
Business leaders including Engr. Rizwan Ashraf, Rana Sikandar Azam, Chaudhary Talat Mehmood, Mian Tanvir Ahmed and others participated in the Q&A session. Commissioners Ihsanullah, Touqeer Ahmed, and Asif Rashid were also present.
