Customs Enforcement Peshawar Thwarts Smuggling Bid Worth Rs51 Million

 

PESHAWAR: The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Peshawar has foiled a major attempt to smuggle goods valued at more than Rs51 million. Officials in Dera Ismail Khan intercepted a truck loaded with foreign-origin cigarettes, polyester cloth rolls and betel nuts during an operation carried out on Wednesday.

The vehicle, bearing registration number P-4234, was traveling from Quetta to Rawalpindi when it was stopped by the Quick Response Force near Waziristan Chowk. Customs authorities seized both the truck and the contraband items under the Pakistan Customs Act, 1969, terming the action a significant success in ongoing anti-smuggling efforts.
