The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Quetta has intensified its crackdown on smuggling through multiple successful operations, resulting in the seizure of contraband goods valued at Rs. 317 million.
According to an official statement, Customs Enforcement, in coordination with the Quetta Police, carried out an intelligence-based operation during which 508 cartons, comprising 25,400 sticks of assorted branded smuggled cigarettes, were recovered. The assessed value of the seized cigarettes is estimated at Rs. 200 million.
The contraband was recovered after sustained surveillance and thorough examination, conducted strictly in accordance with prescribed Standard Operating Procedures.
In separate anti-smuggling actions, Customs Enforcement Quetta also confiscated a substantial quantity of smuggled mobile phones along with 13 non-custom-paid vehicles. The combined assessed value of these seizures stands at Rs. 117 million.
All seized goods have been taken into official custody, while further legal proceedings are being initiated under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969. The Federal Board of Revenue has reiterated its firm resolve to curb smuggling and illicit trade in order to protect the national economy.
