Customs Foils Major Misdeclaration Bid, Prevents Rs167m Revenue Loss

Customs Enforcement Karachi has thwarted a major misdeclaration attempt, safeguarding Rs167 million in national revenue, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) announced.

The intercepted consignment was imported by M/s Inn Sons Corporation and processed by M/s Pakistan Shipping and Logistics Company. Officials say the importers attempted to undervalue large quantities of auto parts and laptops shipped from Jebel Ali to evade duties and taxes.

The seized goods, valued at Rs193 million after assessment, contained far more items than declared, confirming deliberate misreporting. FBR has launched legal proceedings under the Customs Act, 1969 against the importer and all facilitators.

Authorities added that the investigation will uncover the full network involved in the evasion attempt. Customs Enforcement Karachi reiterated its commitment to strict monitoring to curb smuggling, misdeclaration, and revenue losses.
