The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to launch an online e-auction module for the sale of non-customs paid vehicles, aiming to make the disposal process more transparent, efficient, and fair.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a follow-up meeting on Thursday of the high-level committee overseeing tampered and confiscated vehicles.
During the meeting, the FBR presented details of the proposed e-auction system, emphasizing its role in promoting transparency and improving administrative efficiency. The DPM reiterated the government’s commitment to technology-driven reforms that ensure openness and protect public assets.
As part of the initiative, the FBR will issue a new Customs General Order (CGO) governing the disposal of tampered and confiscated vehicles. The existing legal framework was reviewed, and a sub-committee was formed to design a comprehensive mechanism for the process. After detailed deliberations, the sub-committee finalized the new CGO, which has been approved by the DPM.
Senator Dar highlighted that this decision will streamline the auction process, increase transparency, and help generate higher revenue from the sale of confiscated vehicles.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister for Law and Justice, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Chairman FBR, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Information.
