ISLAMABAD: More than 1.44 million women in Pakistan filed income tax returns for the tax year 2024, according to data released by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The official figures show a noticeable increase from the previous year, where 1.34 million women appeared on the Active Taxpayers List (ATL) for the 2023 tax year.
As of July 1, 2025, the FBR released updated statistics showing 161,995 women individuals declared income from business activities for 2024—up from 154,195 in the prior year. This makes them the largest group among active female taxpayers.
The data also highlighted growth in female participation in business entities. The number of Associations of Persons (AOPs) with at least 50% female membership reached 21,529.
Similarly, the number of companies where women hold half or more of the board directorships rose from 36,224 in 2023 to 40,019 in 2024.
The FBR’s report signals steady progress in women’s economic participation and compliance with tax obligations across Pakistan.
