The University of Karachi organized an informative seminar titled “Impacts of Income Tax Filing and Amendments in Pension Rules” at the Karachi University Business School Auditorium on Tuesday.
The session was jointly arranged by the Karachi University Teachers’ Society (KUTS) and the Karachi University Officers Welfare Association (KUOWA).
Keynote speaker Tayyab Ali Ghori, Accounts Officer at the Accountant General Sindh, emphasized that tax filing is not only a legal duty but also a civic responsibility. He explained that all individuals earning above the prescribed income threshold in Pakistan are required to file income tax returns annually.

Earlier, Amanullah Khan Madsar from the Pension Section of Karachi University discussed the recent amendments in pension rules, explaining their potential impact on government employees, particularly those in the education sector.
Dr. Mohsin Ali, President of KUTS, lauded the collaboration between the two associations, noting that such initiatives are crucial for promoting financial literacy and keeping staff updated on policy changes. He highlighted the importance of regular awareness sessions to help employees navigate evolving financial regulations.
Dr. Syed Faisal Hashmi, President of KUOWA, also praised the active participation of faculty and officers. He reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to continuing similar informative programs at the university to foster better understanding of official procedures.
