The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has imposed revised taxes on wedding halls across the province, with the new rates now formally in effect.
Under the updated structure, wedding venues have been divided into three categories based on seating capacity, with fixed taxes applied to each group. KPRA confirmed that the largest hike affects Category A halls, which can host more than 500 guests. The fixed tax for these venues has doubled from Rs25,000 to Rs50,000 per event.
For Category B halls, with a capacity between 300 and 500 people, the tax has been increased by Rs5,000, bringing the new rate to Rs20,000 per event. The tax for Category C halls remains unchanged at Rs10,000 per event.
According to a KPRA spokesperson, the revised rates have been in force since July 1, following decisions made in the provincial budget. The authority warned that individuals who fail to pay the fixed tax will be liable for an additional 15 percent service tax.
Officials said the adjustments were necessary to meet provincial revenue targets and support fiscal measures outlined in the latest budget.
