LAHORE – Beauty clinics across Punjab, particularly in major urban centres such as Lahore and Karachi, have been earning crores of rupees annually while avoiding tax obligations, according to Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) officials.
The PRA has now stepped up enforcement efforts to bring these high-revenue clinics into the tax net. The development was disclosed during a high-level meeting chaired by PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, who directed all divisional commissioners to complete surveys and ensure the registration of beauty clinics by December.
Officials confirmed that despite sizeable yearly earnings, many clinics have failed to contribute to the provincial exchequer. Under the renewed crackdown, all beauty clinics will be registered and linked to the E-IMM (E-Information Management) system to ensure full monitoring and compliance.
To overcome the shortage of enforcement staff, the PRA is deploying additional officers on the ground. A dedicated monitoring cell is also being expanded to digitally track the performance of field teams and hold them accountable. Digital monitoring will help identify businesses delaying or avoiding tax payments.
According to officials, the initiative aims to broaden the tax base, boost provincial revenue and ensure that profitable service providers fulfil their fiscal responsibilities.
