PRA Launches Strict Action Against Late Tax Payments and Record Tampering

Lahore – The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has intensified its enforcement drive against businesses involved in delayed tax payments and manipulation of financial records, adopting a strict stance to curb tax evasion across the provincial capital.

According to official sources, PRA inspection teams conducted comprehensive audits at 18 commercial establishments located in major upscale areas of Lahore. The inspections covered five leading restaurants, six hotels, four fast-food outlets, and three cafes, where authorities examined transaction histories and financial documentation in detail. Several violations were identified, resulting in heavy penalties and issuance of legal notices to non-compliant businesses.

The PRA Chairperson emphasized that the Electronic Invoicing and Monitoring System (E-IMS) will now be strictly implemented across the services sector to ensure real-time tax reporting and transparency. He stated that timely tax payments play a vital role in sustaining public welfare and development initiatives across Punjab.

Authorities also warned that businesses collecting sales tax from customers but failing to deposit it with the government would face strict legal consequences under applicable tax laws.

The PRA has encouraged businesses and consumers to verify tax payments through the PRA Facilitation Application to promote transparency and prevent malpractice. The ongoing enforcement campaign aims to enhance revenue collection, improve compliance levels, and establish a stronger culture of accountability within Lahore’s business sector while supporting fair taxation and economic stability.
