Punjab Revenue Authority Posts 33% Growth, Collects Rs149.5bn in H1-FY26

The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) recorded tax collections of Rs149.5 billion in the first half of FY2025-26 (July–December 2025), marking a significant 33% increase compared to the same period last year. The figures were highlighted during a detailed briefing presented to Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman.

During his visit to the PRA headquarters in Lahore, the Finance Minister expressed satisfaction with the authority’s performance, noting that the province’s focus on fiscal discipline, institutional transparency, and targeted tax reforms is driving tangible results.

The PRA Chairman informed the minister that the authority is on track to achieve—and possibly surpass—its full-year revenue targets if the current pace of enforcement and compliance continues.

The briefing also outlined PRA’s key strategies to expand the provincial tax base. High-potential sectors targeted include banking and financial services, insurance, hospitality, real estate, and emerging digital platforms such as food delivery services. By enhancing registration, monitoring, and compliance in these areas, PRA expects to unlock billions in additional revenue.

Finance Minister Shuja-ur-Rehman emphasized that the government’s focus remains on expanding the tax net, improving enforcement, and using data-driven oversight to tackle evasion and under-reporting—rather than imposing new taxes. He praised PRA’s role in leveraging technology for real-time monitoring, ensuring regulatory compliance, and implementing structural reforms that support long-term economic growth and provincial fiscal stability.
