Government Tightens Vehicle Import Rules for Overseas Pakistanis

The ECC has revised vehicle import rules for overseas Pakistanis, keeping only the Transfer of Residence and Gift schemes. New measures include a minimum three-year stay abroad, verification of the vehicle’s country of origin, application of commercial safety and environmental standards, a three-year gap between imports, and a one-year non-transferability period. The move aims to curb misuse and ensure benefits reach genuine expatriates.

Revenue Collection Jumps 27% to Rs12tr Amid Digital Enforcement Push

Pakistan’s federal revenue collection grew by 27% in the last fiscal year, with withholding tax, sales tax and excise duty showing strong gains thanks to digital enforcement and reforms. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb told the National Assembly that the FBR collected Rs11.7 trillion, up from Rs9.2 trillion, calling it a structurally driven improvement supported by technology-led monitoring and stricter compliance measures.
